Long overdue

Yes. They are 3 and half and just now went to the dentist for the first time. I am awful and neglectful so go ahead and say it. But in my defense, their teeth were fantastic, so we must me doing something right.

Watching the first "patient" get examined.

Checking out the instruments as Drew was checking out himself and his cheesy smile in the 1/2inch mirror.

You had the option of putting on sun glasses for the bright light that shined down, and Drew opted to wear them and Lilly declined. Lilly wanted to be on the same table as Drew while he was getting examined. There was plenty of room as you can see.

When it came time to clean and floss, they DID GREAT! They were really still(or I should say age appropriate still) and I can not even express the difference in how their teeth look with a real professional cleaning. Todd and I left and said, "Sooooo I guess Lilly's front teeth don't have a grayish tinge permanently, huh?"

Then I heard the dentist say X-rays and my hopes for a flawless first visit to the dentist were dashed...or were they? If I can brag for just a second. MY KIDS ARE AWESOME. Completely and 100% cooperated with no bribery and statements of, "if you be good...we can ____________" We were so proud of them.

The dentist did ask if Lilly had ever fallen on her front teeth or were injured in some way(due to their buckness-and I am not talking Little C speak from So you think you can dance right now)....hmmm. I have a feeling some orthodontist bills are in are future. The dentist did have a concern that she possibly had an extra tooth upfront causing her front teeth to appear pushed out. FOr some reason that would fit Lilly..having an extra unwanted tooth, but the x-rays just showed normal amount of teeth with head or neck gear in our distant future.

My apologies.

I pledge to update this blog in the next week. But for now, I go to dream.

Jack and Jill's....

Okay seriously..such a cute little place for kids to play in Petaluma. A friend mentioned it to me and we checked it on a rainy day(we have had many around here lately) We stayed for over two hours and my kids could have stayed way longer and been happy. The owners keep it so clean, and walk around and pick up and disinfect constantly as the kids go from one place to the next. I forgot to get shots of the arts and crafts area, but there was that too and they had different themed projects all prepped with instructions ready to go. Hello..can I kiss the owners please?

Highly recommend it if you are in the area!! We will go back again and again

How many Easter Egg hunts can two children have?

Let me highlight a few....

There was my parents house, where they found some Easter goodies. Giant eggs, play cash registers w/ play money(HUGE hit)and a variety of other gifts.

Well..if you lived in Sonoma County, you know you had to go to plan B for hiding eggs outside due to the stormy, windy, freezing weather. So the inside Egg hunt began.

There was church

Lilly was NOT into the giant Easter Bunny wandering around...so that kind of hindered her from getting many eggs. The expression below tells about her dislike for the giant, walking, big toothed bunny.

Drew expression when seeing the amount of eggs in his line of vision.

I heard someone say that day..."its more like an egg pick up than an egg hunt" I could not agree anymore as you see below

Drew eyeing the older kids section.

The joys of running....such a simple and glorious thing for Lilly.

At preschool
, the kids were eagerly awaiting directions from teacher Michelle to hear what the "rules" were.

I'm not sure if you would call these eggs hidden, but we will roll with it.

The moment of truth where you got to see what was in the egg.

There was way too much chocolate consumed in these couple days, and luckily Lilly and Drew are young enough to not notice when it goes missing suddenly in the middle of the night.

Have I ever mentioned...

How much Lilly LOVES her friend Molly from school? I think this pictures speaks volumes. We were on a field trip for school to bird watch. I usually look like this when walking into Baskin and Robbins.

It's fun to swim at the Y...M....C...A

So swimming lessons in an indoor, bath temperature pool has suited Lilly and Drew. Last swim lesson season, Lilly literally would participate for 10 of the 30 minute lesson due to the cold temperature of the water. So we went back to the YMCA and we are going to be more productive this time around.

I just love when you have a bunch of kids together and they all appear to be listening. My guess that my fascination with this concept of multiple children listening at once stems from my teaching days. Cute shot anyway.....

What's a swim lesson without some kicking?

Drew always knows(or thinks) he knows the answer. Can you tell a teacher raised him?

Getting their time out with the teacher and working on some skills

I have to be honest here. Swim lessons have opened up a whole new perspective I have when watching Drew. The conclusion I have drawn is that he is not listening most of the time, and Lilly is. I would have guessed it opposite, but kids always surprise you.

Drew's some what graceful attempt at floating

Lilly's little gymnast body....oh so little and full of muscle.

Maybe this is why we can not seem to get rid of germs in our house. Lilly puts her hands in her mouth at the bowling alley and Drew puts his mouth directly on the side of the pool.

Practicing the arms....

see what I mean about the listening skills for Drew?? Oh boy.
