Here are some phrases that I am so tired of saying:
Lilly, STOP teasing Drew!
Drew, she just wants to play with you. Don't tell her to go away and get out of the house.
Have another bite of food please.
Water stays in the bathtub, not on the floor outside of the bathtub.
Another bite...please....one more bite of your dinner.
Lilly, do not touch the mud, sand, water, or dirt right now. Lilly do not touch it.
What did I just say?(this must be said 1,000 times per day in our household)
Take a bite of your food.........long slow exhale....please
No, you can not have cheerios in bed.

What is it about boys and guns?
Does every boy have a fascination with guns and shooting everything, while doing laser sounds, and ninja rolls to the ground behind a couch so the rocket ship doesn't see them? Okay, I guess that is a rather specific example, but it seems to be all about the guns. In our defense, it is not like they are watching Terminator or Die Hard...mostly disney movies.
This picture says so much. These actions figures were actually Todd's when he was Drew's age and Drew LOVES them!!

Thought this shot was appropriate with the Olympics in full force right now. Concentrate more on the American flag and less on the army guys.

Can you see the laser noise coming out of his mouth, and the army guy that is knocked over because of the laser?

PS..do you like how I call it laser...like it makes the guns less real and the shooting at things not so bad?
Lilly wanted to join the action.

This video is included mostly because we captured the line we most dread out of Drew's mouth....
Ohhh, and go ahead and ask me what I am doing in this video?
"Hey Lindsey, what are you doing in this video?"
"Just cleaning dried-aged puke off my Uggs"

I am so glad I had my camera.
You know..I have been bad about having my camera with me lately. It used to be the first thing I packed when going out for the day, and now it sits in the drawer yelling to come out.
But I am glad I had it today because these series of shots are too sweet.

She just adores him....enough said

The spontaneous hand-hold...usually initiated by Lilly

It was like Lilly's special day- flowers and Drew liked her today(so sad when it is the opposite)

I don't do enough black and white.

Did I mention....

What Todd got for Valentines day? There are only a few other things that he might have liked more than a 16 ounce Rib eye.
Poor guy never gets red meat any more. It's not like it has been banned from our house, but he doesn't want to cook a steak and red wine reduction sauce just for himself. Although maybe Lilly would go for it?
When they are getting along....
I walk in on them sharing a chair and Drew is literally reading to Lilly(and she is enjoying it) Drew has ridiculous retention skills. I had just got this book at the library that day and had read it once to them. I just got the end of the book, but he read the entire book to her accurately. Such a scholar.

As you can see at the end of the video, the love never lasts longer than a fleeting moment :-) But I will take all the moments I can get these days and fall asleep thinking about those loving moments.

A entirely new freedom...
So, the transition to big beds have occurred. Todd and I always agreed that when it was NECESSARY, we would make that change. And Lilly free basing from the top of her (inch and half) railing made the big beds a necessity. We did not want to just get her a big bed and not Drew, so Drew kind of gets the shaft right now, with the crib(remove one side and whala) you have a toddler bed in full effect. He doesn't really care, although he does go and get on Lilly's bed quite a bit. For now, bedding is hand-me downs and configuration of the rooms is in trial mode. All of those details will be worked out in due time.

They are doing so great!! I would have predicted that naps would no longer exist after this transition, but my kids proved me wrong, and with something like naps...I was happy I was wrong.

So the time has come
The time has come that the adventures of the Petersen's is going to be a private blog. Too many spam and weird comments coming across, the idea that any "coo-coo" could google us and read about moments that I really just want real friends and family to enjoy. So the decision has been made. Drew and Lilly support me in this decision and will probably thank me even more when they are mature enough to realize what the Internet is.
With all that out in the open, if you would like to continue reading our family blog please leave me a comment with your email address and or you can send me an email at:
linzkbrant@aol.com
I have to give Aimee credit for influencing me to do this because it has been on my mind for a while now, and by her doing it, it made me take the leap as well. So the next couple paragraphs I stole for her blog because I could not explain it as clearly as she did. So I am openly admitting to plagiarism right now. Can I still get in trouble? I wonder.
Don't worry it isn't that complicated either. There are just a few easy steps if you don't have a google account. Once you give me your email I will enter you into the list and if you are not registered then they will send you an invitation on how to set one up. You do not have to set up a blog to do this. Remember to use the email you gave me when you set up the account or it wont grant you access.
I have found the easiest way for me to view my friends private blogs is to check the box that says "remember me" or "keep me logged in" and then you don't have to log in every time you want to view our blog. Just add my blog address to your favorites bar or bookmark it and you are set!
The only bummer part to the blog being private is that if you have me on your blog roll it will no longer show the current post. I will slowly slip down to the bottom of your blog roll, but that does not mean I am not posting or updating the blog.
My hope is that all of you that check in with us daily, weekly, or every once in a while will continue to do so and we will continue to do silly things and grow-up and grow young(in Todd and I's case) on this blog, but it will only be seen now by loved ones. Thanks in advance for hanging with us!!
I will leave this post up for a while for those every once in a while readers to see it and respond if they want to.
Until we meet again in the private blog world,
The Petersens

Already practicing his signature
You know some kids like sports, and some kids like dinosaurs. Some kids like art and painting, and others prefer reading books. Not that Drew does not enjoy all the things listed in some way, but more than anything Drew has a love affair with letters. There is nothing more interesting(well cars..okay he loves cars) to Drew than letters and the sounds that they make. We play find the letter game every day in our house in some way..weather it be while we are reading, or in the bath, or on street signs.
He spelled his name and wrote these letters all by himself on a rainy day during some art time. I did not help him in anyway.

He ran out of space, and the "w" was moved to the next line, but Drew loves letters and my guess is that letters will love Drew as he gets older too.
